Dot com companies with fancy web based products seem to be everywhere these days. The latest I have come across is imified.com, which run a IM server that allows you to add them as a contact in your IM of choice (AIM, Yahoo, MSN - overloaded, jabber/GoogleTalk), and set up reminders, todos, and other things. E.g. add the following address for Google Talk/Jabber: imified@gmail.com, and start typing for instructions.
Imified seem to be adding new features daily as they think of them, and are very responsive to forum suggestions for ideas. They support several other services such as Wordpress, Remember the Milk, Stickkit, but I haven’t tried signing up to them as am always a bit hesitant giving third party tools my authentication information.
Of most use to me was the reminder service - you can set reminders to be IM’d to you by specifying either dates or saying things like “in 15 mins”, which is pretty cool. Of course, if you use calendaring software you can set up reminders anyway, but if you are at work, you can set imified to remind you, and if you are then logged into IM anywhere else on other machines you are still able to receive reminders, which is pretty cool.

Not sure I like the comment boxes though. Once a box loses focus you can’t read what’s in it.

Dave Hoff added these pithy words on Feb 14 07 at 3:34 pmThanks for writing about us Al. Just thought I’d let you know we released a new feature to our reminder functionality last night. You can now choose to have reminders sent to your mobile, email, or both if you’re not online or your presence is set to away. Never miss a reminder again.
